David J Meister — artist, author, inmate. Two decades of art, law, and life from inside.

Documenting U.S. prisons from inside.
MeisterArchive is an independent, prisoner-driven platform documenting life inside U.S. prisons. David Joseph Meister, incarcerated for two decades in Idaho, is the author of The Meister Manual: for Prisoners’ Lawsuits — used nationwide to file grievances, civil rights claims, and federal court appeals. This site preserves that work and provides public, on-the-ground documentation contributed by people living through the system every day.
A life measured in what he’s made of it.
